Here you’ll find some pdf books made by us which walk through the use of mathematical modeling with real applications.
True and Pseudo Range Multilateration for Local Positioning Systems by N J Westfall (download)
Summary: Determining the position of an object from its known distances to other points is called multilateration. This is more common than you might think. Every time you use the maps on your phone to get directions using GPS multilateration is being performed. In this book, N J Westfall walks through the general methods for determining a drone’s position using Wi-Fi transmitters. The mathematics used starts out as a seemingly simple geometry problem…but as the reality of dealing with real life experimental data sets in, the math and methods grow to encompass matrix algebra, calculus, differential equations, trigonometry, numerical methods and algorithmic approaches!
Definitions of the Gamma Function (download)
Summary: The gamma function, Γ(z), is a widely known and applicable function. Great interest in Γ(z) has led to many formulations for it, though few provide any advantage over the traditional definitions. Herein two expressions are derived for Γ(z). They are compared to the Euler, Van der Pol and Weierstrass products, as well as Riemann sums of the Euler integral and its analytic continuation. The partial products of the derived formulae are shown to possess greater accuracy than those of the standard definitions. This improvement may be further enhanced with convergence acceleration techniques, such as Aitken’s delta-squared process, which is briefly demonstrated.
